EBU expands animation collaboration for 2024
08 July 2024The EBU, in partnership with France Télévisions and CARTOON, is renewing its commitment to fostering innovative animation projects for young audiences across Europe.
Following the successful launch of the initiative earlier this year, the collaboration aims to refine the model for collective financing of animation pilot projects, with a new selection process set to take place during CARTOON Forum 2024, a pitching & co-pro forum for animated TV projects.
The renewed initiative supports the EBU's dedication to high-quality animated programming, particularly targeting young audiences across its Member territories. In a testament to this commitment, 15 European public broadcasters have already pledged their participation for 2024.
Participants at CARTOON Forum will have the chance to revisit the progress of last year's selected projects, "Pig & Andersen" by Fleng Entertainment from Denmark and "Ray & Ruby" by Creative Conspiracy from Belgium. These projects will be showcased during the event, offering insights into their development journey over the past year.
Matthew Trustram, Head of Television, EBU, said: “Our Members’ long-standing efforts in co-developing animation projects not only bolster the creative industry but also highlight the importance of collaborative initiatives in engaging young audiences. As the selection process progresses, the anticipation builds for the unveiling of the next wave of innovative animated content that we hope will capture the imaginations of viewers across the continent.”
