Radio and Audio News Group

The Radio and Audio News Group (RANG) provides a forum for sharing values and best practices about editorial, ethical, technical and new media issues in the radio and audio industry.

The RANG pools the knowledge and experience of senior editors and programme-makers for the benefit of EBU Members as a whole. Group meetings take place at least 3 times a year and focus primarily on editorial and technical issues which affect the coverage of news events, as well as the impact of technology on journalism.

The Group convenes an annual seminar or a practical workshop, to which both Active and Associate Members (members of other broadcasting unions) are invited. The group sets the agenda in collaboration with the News Unit, which is also responsible for running the meetings.

The group is composed of a chairman and nine members. Since 2019, the role of chairman is taken up by each member in turns and each mandate lasts for 12 months.
